People Fixing the World: Improving our eyesight

BBC's "People Fixing the World" traveled to Karnataka, India to document how eyeglasses are transforming agricultural productivity among coffee farmers at the Garigekhan Estate. The episode features interviews with farmers who received eyeglasses, alongside VisionSpring team members Anshu Taneja (Managing Director, VisionSpring India), Bhavyashree (Optometrist, Counsellor, and Optical Dispenser), and Chandrasehekur (Deputy Lead, See to Earn).

Glasses Improve Income, Not Just Eyesight

A study found that when older workers in Bangladesh were given free reading glasses, they earned 33 percent more than those who had not. According to the W.H.O., the lack of access to corrective eyewear inhibits learning among students, increases the likelihood of traffic accidents and forces middle-age factory workers and farmers to prematurely leave the work force.
